Sold Items.Finding your old Crosman BB gun while cleaning out the hall closet or garage can bring back childhood memories of time spent plinking away at tin cans with your dad or grandpa. Before you share the same memories with your own child or grandkid, your Crosman will probably need a bit of TLC to get it back to prime condition. Resealing your airgun can be a little technical, but with a few tools and the right parts, you can get your well-worn gun working as well as the day you bought it.

Some of the seals in your are easier to replace than others, so it's important to figure out which seal is the problem. If your airgun is unable to pump enough air to fire at all, its pump cup usually needs replacement. If your airgun can pump up but loses pressure, the valve seal is the issue.

Before disassembling your airgun, gather all the parts and tools needed to complete the job. Although the Crosman was discontinued in the mids, it's still possible to find aftermarket parts kits to repair it. Crosman no longer sells replacement parts for the directly, but the airgun shares many parts with the model, which can still be acquired directly from Crosman.

Before proceeding, make sure your is unloaded by removing the BBs from the reservoir. Pump up and discharge it in a safe direction to release any pressurization. Once you're sure that the airgun is unloaded and not pressurized, remove the plastic housing from the front of the handguard with your flathead screwdriver.

Take out the plastic plug that it was holding in place, and you'll be able to remove the air piston assembly. The pump cup is at the very end of the air piston assembly and, because it is friction fit, can be pulled out by hand. To access the valve seal, you'll need to open the receiver by unscrewing the three screws on the side of the airgun.

Proceed with caution; there are many small parts and springs in the receiver that could be easily lost. Fully disassemble the receiver and retain all parts for reassembly. With the receiver disassembled, you can remove the pump tube, which contains the pressure chamber of the airgun. Gently remove the pressure chamber from the pump tube with your wooden dowel and disassemble it to reveal the valve seal O-rings.

Moreover, most airguns are remarkably durable. Over the years I have witnessed the abuse of airguns by some shooters, but they just kept on functioning. Like other mechanical devices, airguns will last longer and perform better if they are regularly and properly cared for. Fortunately, the procedures are neither complex nor expensive so there is little excuse for not taking care of an airgun appropriately. There are two important reasons for this. Second, the information has been prepared by experts who are extremely knowledgeable about your airgun and how it functions.

If it says to apply two drops of oil to the pump wiper, do not apply five drops. I have a beautiful air rifle that looked almost new when I bought it. I am sure that some exuberant owner had thought that he should oil the gun after every few shots, but generally a couple of drops of oil after shots is more realistic.

Dropping or careless mishandling is a common cause of damage to airguns. Treat you airgun as the precision instrument that it is. Allowing it to fall or bounce around in a vehicle may knock things out of alignment. Some airgun parts are made of plastic. They are perfectly suitable for their intended job under normal use, but they may not last long if the gun is abused.

I see many older airguns that would be still functioning if they had not been abused. Try to find out what is preventing the control from operating properly.

When pumping up a multi-pump, make sure that you do not twist the pump handle as you operate it. If you do, it is possible to twist the linkage so that it does not operate smoothly without rubbing on the sides of the channel. Also, use a steady, even pumping motion rather than spasmodic jerks.

Never exceed the number of pumps specified for your airgun usually eight or ten. If you do not, you may damage the seals and shorten the life of your airgun. Break action break barrel air rifles operate by pulling the barrel downward to cock the rifle.

After a pellet is inserted, the barrel is pushed back to its original position. Do not slam the barrel upward with a great force. The barrel is held in place by a locking mechanism that can be damaged if the barrel is slammed upward.

Accurate shooting requires the barrel to be indexed in the same position for each shot, and this may not be possible if the locking mechanism is damaged. The valves of air and CO2 guns need a small amount of lubricant. A drop of Pellgun Oil on the end of a CO2 cylinder is sufficient to lubricate the seals that engage the neck of the cylinder.Forums Recent Posts New posts.

Crosman & Benjamin

Also when a gun of this type won't pump check to see if you can tell if it's the cup seal on the pump arm not sealing. It will save you a complete tear down if it is. If that seems like it is sealing then it's probably the check valve. Does there seem to be normal resistance when pumping? I'd get a kit and replace the pump seal first then and only then rip into it to rebuild the valve.

Last edited: Mar 1, Well today it seems to work. I might have to check it each month. It makes me think how important a spare seal kit and oil would be in the long term for a pump up gun. I had read several entries on other sites which seemed to confirm this expectation.

I wonder what would cause the difference in performance? Regards, Fred S. All the sites I've checked say "up to" fps, which to my mind means that real world will be less. Thanks to your blog I rebuilt my It works fine but the question I have is how did you measure the pellet's velocity?

Thanks again. When you are doing the final assembly I used a clamp to hold the bottom half of the housing against the barrels while I fit all the little pieces into place. I then put a drill bit, smooth shaft down into the hole in the bottom housing to hold the little plastic piece in the end of the barrel.

I also looped a twist tie from a bread wrapper over the back end of the trigger thingee ? I then removed the clamp while having the monkeys support the gun and pull on the bread tie and fed the top half of the housing over the drill bit and into place. I wiggled out the bread tie, and lifted out the drill bit and screwed it all together. Fantastic article, saved me untold hours of suffering in cleaning out my own crosman this afternoon.

Honestly, I have no idea how they would assemble this things without three people. Great documentation and photos. Thanks for all of your efforts anad for helping the rest of us C owners out. Question: My C barrel has a bit of side to side movement. Any way to tighten this up?

Otherwise, it shoots fine. Thank, KuskokwimAK. Hey i have a croman classic. The gun is close to 30 if not 30 year old. When i pump it the air dosent go in it hisses like its leaking. I also need the stock.

But i was wondering what is causing this problem, could someone please get back to me asap This is a very helpful post! Currently I have taken the gun a part and am trying to get the air valve unscrewed. Is there a trick to this? It is brass and very soft I don't want to damage it. Thanks, Brian.
